Message from The Assessor: 2010 Assessment Notes
The values for all properties in Virgil Township were revalued for the 2010 assessment year according to the sales ratio figures complied by the Illinois Department of Revenue. These values reflect the last 3 years of sales, 2007, 2008, and 2009.
Residential properties are down approximately 5.9 % compared to 2009 values. This follows a 2009 reduction of slightly over 1% from 2008 values. Unless the housing market makes a drastic recovery in 2010, values should decline again in 2011.
Farmland values were increased 10% from 2009. Farmland values are not associated with sales and are calculated taking into account both yield and value of farm commodities as associated with soil type.
